god, seriously. it happens every year, like clockwork. the birthday angst. not the "oh noes i'm ancient" kind, but the "oh woes no one gives a damn" kind. & it doesn't help that there is no birthday collection bag in the tearoom with my name on it & i'm too _something_ to ask about it. i've mentioned the fact it's my birthday tomorrow several times in the past week, it's not like they don't know. gah. i mentioned my birthday to so some of the ladies downstairs yesterday on my shopping trip and they were shocked and said they'd ask about it but yeah..

not that it's important or anything. i'm not obsessed with presents. just the thought. you know, "the thought that counts."

oh and in other news #1: i'm having a birthday / housewarming party on Saturday:

"I'm turning 26 on thursday and carl just officially moved in so we're having a little party on saturday to celebrate both. presents optional but appreciated. bring your own bottle.

technically starting at 8, but you can come earlier but you'll have to watch doctor who with me and let me concentrate. timelording is srs bsns.

anyway. RSVP please so i know how much cake to make! i make quite good cake now."

in other news #2: i made excellent banana & blackberry muffins last night. i rule the muffin tray. and we have a real bed, and carl officially lives in 67 eldon street now. though we still need to take the paper work to the council for housing benefits. but you need bank statements etc for that.

i've just been too busy with everything else. and having nothing to say.

oh dear, i've just promised to move everything from theliving room wall into the bedroom for tomorrows big moving extravaganza. and we're going to ikea next weekend to buy a bed cos he got paid by the beeb. & they've got a sale starting wednesday. this worries my purse strings. then carl told me there is a real unicorn and dissappeared from the internet. that's just MEAN. unicorns, man.

god, the flats going to look like a big fat mess / a real home! pictures will be provided when its all presentable.

obviously i ended up not getting the bus up to carls. because i'm lame. instead i baked some korvapuusti (finnish cinnamon roll types, a bit like the ones you get ikea) but it was my second time doing it without mum or my nan (first time was horrid, i burned them and learned that brown sugar is really no good for this) and i didnt put 'enough' sugar in the filling. they're good, but finnish standards. but i just know carl won't be impressed / like them because he has an english palate. they like sugary things in this country. (you know the 'myth' about their teeth) i might make some custard ones later, he'll appreciate those.

my mum told me to look into flight from ryan air for home in the autumn, and typically they have a sale. but i don't have the money to buy the tickets right now. even with no fare, just taxes its still £100 for two people, and i have less than £80 in the bank. so yeah.

anyway i think i'm off. i've been at the library far too long. & i've got staples to go to. only a couple more pages of your pretty face issue four to go. it's a fucking epic (54 pages at the moment..)

ps. the real unicorn. i say awww.

i was thinking about getting the cheap bus up to randomly see carl tonight as he's not coming down until sunday (with shelves & shit) i've sort of always wanted to just turn up on a special person's doorstep as a surprise, and i think this might be my last chance since you know, he's moving in for reals. and i like the idea, but then all the practical stuff kicks in, like, there's nothing to do there (the dvd player and stereo are down at the flat already, oh mixtape joy! i've already almost finished one, but sadly there's a song (or two) that i want that i don't have but carl does...) and there's probably a big mess of packing and moving in carls room that makes him super anxious and me being there makes it a bit worse and its not like there can be a sexy surprise (if you know what i mean) because the bed is squeaky and the floor boards are squeaky and we're self conscious and the house is full of people and meh. so it's probably better if i just get the flat ready for him.

what do you think? i've ruined a lovely idea by thinking about it, but it all makes sense and is probably true. fuckwit.

in other news, i got recycling bags yesterday as i got a note the other day from the council telling me when and where and how to recycle. i've lived there for almost a year, and thats first i've heard of recycling in my hood. its supposed to be at my houses corner every other wednesday morning, but i've never ever seen any when i go to work. but then again, maybe they pick it up before ten to nine.. or maybe my neighbours don't recycle. well, i will! i think i'll actually take some empty bottles to recycling, the underneath of the little corner 'worktop' in the kitchen is littered with empty wine and cider bottles. i haven't done it for a couple of months..

and, i need to buy new shoes. i'm going right now. primark here i cometh.

today's been not great. i'm so annoyed with things that are not in my power because most of them have just completely gone wrong wrong wrong. first i got a phone call from work just as i was putting on my uniform in the morning not to come in yet, because the internets was broken, and i'm no use without it. it was going to get sorted though and they'd ring me when it would. it wasn't fixed until quarter past twelve. (because talktalk the internet provider had decided to randomly cancel the direct debit and thus the internets even though no one had told them to. fuckwits) which would have been fine EXCEPT it's the first day after a looong bank holiday weekend which means billions of orders to be shipped out and the courier comes to pick them around two. yaye. AND i had the builders coming in around two also to fix my shed, finally. i did all the things i had to (sort out orders, make labels, answer stupid questions) and ran home to let the builders in.. except as i was walking home, i noticed i had a missed call and voicemail. from mhs (my landlords) saying sorry but there's been emergencies during the weekend and the builder is stuck fixing someone's roof so shed fixing = cancelled. ANNOYING MUCH? i'd appreciate the early escape from work but that means i have to do longer days the rest of the week to catch up with my hours. fuck the fuck off.

so after the library i need to go to mhs express and sort out a new day to fix shed, and cancel the door painting tomorrow (because i'm not going to be in) and check that the council has paid all of my housing benefit which is due to be paid today, because i got an arrears letter on saturday. (though i'm 99% sure the housing officer's just got a bit letter happy again. i've been paying my bit and there's been no letter's stating change from the council.)

i. carl's uncle's having a barbecue tonight. yaye. I LOVE BARBEQUES.

ii. i love the library on saturday afternoons because you can hear the music from the command house next door clearly in the computer room. it sort of sounds like someone is soundchecking but i don't think they've got iggy pop or the ramones playing there later tonight.. cos that's what i heard earlier. but this one sounds like a scene boy singing and being sick at the same time..

iii. i've been working on more zines again. i've got at least sixteen pages of your pretty face #4 done already, and then there's the cooking zine too. i just can't think of a name. (any ideas?)

iv. i love dave gorman. i watched half of the dave gorman collection last night while assembling copies of your pretty face #3. the files are incredibly shit quality, the audio is about 20 seconds ahead of the pictures but that's alright when you're mainly looking at pieces of paper in your lap and it's verbal funny. we watched the googlewhack adventure a while ago and hell yeah. it was probably the funniest thing i've ever seen. see it.

v. i've just exceeded the half an hour on the internets that i gave myself by half an hour. oops! i've still got stuff to do in town and i'm supposed to go to the barbecue in half an hour. oops.

mmph. no cobra tickets on interwebs. but it might be cos "Tickets may not be available online just hours before an event occurs." i've saved the number in my phone i'll ring them later and see if there's still tickets left. i'm actually not really in the mood right now, but it's not until tomorrow night.. i might be in a less stupid mood then.

julie took us to maidstone yesterday and carl bought a hot chippi cardigan and an actual shirt. i found a nice cardigan but not in my size and the most amazing dress in h&m but i took a picture and will get ma to find one in the catalog or something. she's got vouchers. there was also a pretty belt in zara. but not now.

we're having big manly jerk supreme burgers for dinner. i just made them and put them into the fridge before running to the library in the rain.. they are giant.

stupid brain. we had margaritas and 'a fight' last night. but it's ok except i've been feeling physically weird and possibly ill all day. haribos for breakfast is bad.
